Mit dem Kayak über den Pazifik. Nur 3879 Meilen ;-)
Melted Icons during my jurney from Hildesheim to Vienna. It seems that the temperature was to high the last days ;-)

Yesterday I stumbled upon and bought a original book from BRAUN “Was ist Elektronik?” (engl. “What is electronics?”). Unfortunately it was only the book and not the whole experimental set. A little research unveiled that the system itself was invented by Theodor and Johann Egger in 1966.
(via today and tomorrow)
This is the concept of Mihai Nadin and Pino Trogu of how the future of computing should look like and how it can become integrated in our lives. The video dates back to 1991 where nobody was thinking that such a thing could become reality and also electronics were not ready for implementing this into reality.
On the conceptual level, this video is deeply inspiring. It is so poetic and yet clear. Boxes, computation and a lot of own imagination.
Don’t miss to watch it …
Interaction Design enables us to invent objects, embedded with computer technology, which are capable to sense their environment and react to people in intelligent ways. These objects can be either complex or they can offer very simple and basic interactions. This project investigates the use of basic interactive artifacts as tools for children to encourage active play in their natural environments.
Combining the insights from child development, available technology for children and a user centered design approach, basic interactive objects have been created. They can be used by children as extensions to the world and offer them playful interactions. In this way they support reconfiguring and manipulating the environment in a creative and collaborative way. On another level they impose questions about what it means when objects start to communicate with children. Therefore this paper will also discuss the emerging relationship between child and an interactive object.
Through observations it could be demonstrated how children use the objects and what kind of use-cases and scenarios they invent by themselves. On the other hand it will be demonstrated, that interactive artifacts could serve as amplifiers for environmental perception.
